Welcome to the first addition of our brand spanking new unsigned artist EXTRAVAGANZA. Each week we will be posting about an unsigned band or artist that we feel deserves some attention. This week we bring you two very special dubstep tracks from the talented Wayne Baker, otherwise know as Fidelium.
"Fidelium is an electronic musician est. 2004. His cross-genre music features epic chord progressions, driving rhythms, and innovative melodic lines. Along with playing instruments his whole life, he has been composing in genres of music ranging from classical/orchestrial to experimental to rock to electronic music (IDM, dubstep, drum and bass, downtempo and ambient) for over 15 years. His style ranges from ambient sound textures to fierce and intricately-layered bass music and he is driven toward broadening his production style, as he incorporates his wide and attention-deficit musical taste into his sound."
Are you tired of uninspiring, lack-luster dubstep? Want to hear something with a little edge, a little sparkle? Well look no further, as we have two dubstep delights from Fideliums new release, 'Diametry'.
"Diametry" is a work about duality. It is an awakening from a nightmare. It is an escape into a dream. An ascension from madness into sublimity. "Diametry" is a story about transformation."
These days crappy dubstep is more ubiquitous than Japanese tourists - yet good dubstep is somewhat of a rarity. Fidelium undoubtedly delivers the latter of the two, standing out from the dull, worn-out dubstep crowd with some very special sounds that will stimulate your senses no end. Not only does he produce brilliant dubstep, he excels in a variety of other genres too which is evident in his latest release alone.
I cannot stop playing his track 'Volcanist'. I love utter filth, and for me, this track defines utter filth. When that spine-tingling bass kicks in @ 3:05 the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's the kind of sound that is reminiscent of Noisia - an electronic trio that I love dearly for their filthy sounds. I've always wondered how musicians like Fidelium and Noisia produce these sounds - it's definitely an artform in itself.
It would be impossible to deny that this guy has some serious talent, making an excellent first addition to our new unsigned area - although I feel he shouldn't be in this section at all!
If you like what you hear please show Fidelium some support by purchasing his new album, 'Diametry', and help turn this little gem into a psychical item. We'll be keeping a close eye on this guy for sure.
