I've got two brilliant tracks for you on this fine Friday afternoon.
WAX
The first is from London based band, Theme Park. From what I can gather they are a new five-piece, consisting of twin brothers and 3 friends, who are about to emerge into the music industry with their upcoming debut release. They currently have only one gig in the pipeline, to celebrate the launch of their release:
"The band's first - and only currently scheduled - live performance will be a single launch party to support the release, occurring at London's Lexington venue on Wednesday August 31st."
Their track 'Wax' was an instant hit for me, with the lead singer reminding me slightly of Matt Berninger from The National, although he has also been compared with David Byrne from the Talking Heads.
If 'Wax' whets your appetite, they also have a great track called 'Milk', which you can check out here. Their first official release will be on August the 29th - definitely one to look out for.
GALS
The second track is by UK producer, Will Archer (aka Slime), which is from his debut EP 'Increases' and features vocals from Lewis Rainsbury of Vondelpark.
My favourite part of the track is the vocals. I love how they are never the most dominant part of the track, yet they have such an impact on the overall feel. Instead, they seem to sit beneath the music, really adding to the floaty, dream-like effect. Although an incredibly mellow track, the crisp, clappy beat is somewhat of a foot-tapper, adding a beautiful contrast to the airy and atmospheric instruments surrounding it.
I must have listened to 'Gals' around 10 times today already, and quite frankly I could listen to it at least that many times again. There's just something about it which I can't get enough of - each time discovering something else I adore about the track. It also seems to get better and better with every listen.
Perhaps I'm just in the perfect mood for this type of tune today. Take a listen below, and if you like it as much as me you can buy it here.
