Beth Jeans Houghton – New video & debut album

It feels like Newcastle-born Beth Jeans Houghton has been with us for a while, but hopefully 2012 will be the year that she finally becomes HUGE. Rumours of a collaboration with Anthony Kiedis, as well as constant (lazy) references to her as 'the new Florence' will no doubt help her on her way. A few of the tracks from the amazingly-titled Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose will already be familiar to those of us who have been following Beth over the years, but hopefully her dreamy vocals will win her new fans aplenty. I must confess to being a little disappointed that my old Beth favourite Golden has been missed off the album, but here is Beth’s new video for Sweet Tooth Bird to get you excited instead (be prepared for vomiting. And blood). Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose is released through Mute Records on the 6th February, with Sweet Tooth Bird released a few weeks later on 20th February. Beth Jeans Houghton is definitely one of the most interesting women in British music at the moment, and hopefully Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose will bring her the recogniton she deserves. May 2012 be the year of Beth Jeans Houghton.
