Royksopp - Free Download

After nearly a year of absence since they released their last album Senior, Norwegian dance duo Röyksopp have just unveiled two new musical treats on their website, whetting our appetites for what sounds like a new album on the horizon.

"Yup, when you least expect it, we show up like two happy little gnomes. Bearing gifts. Gifts in the form of music. You see, we know we have been away from this place for a while now, but we assure you: new material is being brewed. Just in case, as an apology of sorts, we have chosen to present you with two tracks this time."

This first track is a remix of The Irrepressibles‘ "In This Shirt". I have not heard the original before, but after hearing Röyksopps' remix, personally, I can't see how it could trump this.

"Every now and then we make edits/remixes of other people songs – with no other intention than to entertain ourselves and perhaps use them in DJ-sets etc."

Thank god they make remixes for fun, because this one has turned out to be pure genius - I've already listened to this twice in a row, which is saying something considering it's over 10 minutes long!

The next track, titled "Shores Of Easy", is an awesome chilled out 14-minute belter.

"As you know, we never want to dictate how our music is being used, but we feel that this time, a small guideline is in place: this track is best served when calm."

I have to agree with them here. This is not a track that gets me pumped up wanting to dance, instead I can see myself whacking it on at 4 or 5am after a very heavy, dance-filled evening.

"The Track, however, is not indicative of things to come…"

The Weeknd 'Thursday' Mixtape - Free Download!

Just downloaded this mixtape by The Weeknd. Thursday is the highly anticipated followup to the House Of Balloons mixtape, which emerged earlier this year from Canadian singer/songwriter Abel Tesfaye - better known as The Weeknd.

Personally, the mixtape as a whole isn't really my cup of tea, but I can understand why this guy is getting a lot of attention. For me, the track "The Zone" seemed to stand out from amongst the rest - 5.15 being the point when it starts to get really good.

The Game Feat. Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne 'Martians vs. Goblins' - Free Download!

Now, I wouln't call myself a fan of The Game, and certainly not Lil Wayne for that matter, but throw Tyler, The Creator into the mix and the outcome is something a bit special. Thankfully, Lil Wayne hardly features in 'Martains vs. Goblins', a track from the Game's forthcoming The R.E.D. Album, out August 23 on DGC/Interscope.

Holy Ghost 'Some Children' - Free Download!

I just discovered that Holy Ghosts brilliant track 'Some Children' is available as a free download (right click, save as). The track also features the great Michael McDonald on backing vocals, taking it to a level that can only be achieved with his deep, soulful voice. There was a cool little teaser video for the track posted a little while ago which you can also check out below.

'Some Children' is from their self-titled debut LP released on DFA Records. The entire LP can be streamed in full here.

Peter Wolf Crier 'Settling It Off' Free Download

Peter Wolf Crier have just released 'Settling it off', a new track from their forthcoming album Garden of Arms. This is the first thing I've heard from the Minneapolis duo, but the track has made a great first impression leaving me wanting to hear more.
